Part-Time Seasonal School Garden Program Assistant

Schoolyard Roots (SYR) is seeking a part-time School Garden Program Assistant

working 10 hours per week. The ideal candidate will be both an independent worker and a team-player,

will have experience working in and maintaining gardens, and will demonstrate passion for the

Schoolyard Roots mission and vision. The Program Assistant’s main role is to assist in all aspects of

running the school garden program with an emphasis on school garden maintenance and

improvements. The Program Assistant plans collaboratively with the Garden Education team, but often

works independently. Strong communication and reliability are essential requirements of the position.

 

Schedule: The Program Assistant position is up to 10 hours per week for 15 weeks during the Spring

Semester (early February through Mid-May 2026) and 15 weeks during the Fall semester (Mid August-

Mid-December 2026). The ideal start date is flexible but will be in February 2026. There is potential for

this position to expand for the right candidate. Starting hourly rate is determined on experience, with a range of

$13-15/hour. The Program Assistant has access to fresh, organic produce, herbs, and flowers from the gardens

when available.
